Crop Swap – Abundance Share

First Saturday of Every Month 11.15am – 1pm

As so many of you grow your own fruit, veg and herbs, you may find yourself in a situation where you have an abundance of one type and a lack of others?!

This summer, on the first Saturday of the month from 11.15am – 1pm the studio is going to host a crop swap.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

Bring your abundance and take what you need to feed you and your family.

This doesn’t need to stop at home grown fruit veg and herbs. If you are a kitchen witch/ wizard and want to share some of your homemade bakes or cooking then this is your chance to shine, share and receive!

Summer Solstice Yoga Mala

Saturday 25th June 2022, 2pm

Let’s celebrate the light of the longest day OUTSIDE! It’s also the one year anniversary of Corbridge Yoga Studio!

Expect sunshine (fingers crossed, of course we have a back up in case of rain, this is the north east after all). If necessary we will be in the Parish Hall.

If the weather gods are on our side we will be on Corchester Football ground In Corbridge.

CORCHESTER LANE, Corbridge, NE45 5NP

The music will be loud, please send a song request on booking. Think upbeat to keep you moving.
We will be celebrating as a community after we practice so please bring a picnic. The Mala took 2.5 hours this winter so expect something similar.

Celebrate the energy of the longest day with a Yoga Mala. 108 Sun Salutations.

Why 108?

  • 108 is considered a sacred number in the Dharmic religions. In Hindu tradition,
  • There are 108 attendants of Shiva and so there are 108 mala beads.
  • Mala beads traditionally come strung with 108 beads that rotate around the Guru bead. They are used for counting as you repeat a mantra, in prayer or meditation and so for our moving meditation we use 108 sun salutations.
  • For interest here are a few other instances of the sacred 108:
Lord Krishna had 108 followers. Vishnu 108 temples.
  • The Kangyur of Buddha 108 volumes.
  • In mathematics 108 has many special characteristics such as being a palindromic, Harshad and Achilles number.
  • In Ayurveda, there are 108 pressure points in the body, where consciousness and flesh intersect to give life to the living being.
  • The distance of Earth from the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Sun and the distance between the Earth and the Moon is also about 108 times the diameter of the Moon.

How will it work?

We will begin with a short meditation and warm- up before starting the mala.

There will be options during the mala to rest or take a 1/2 sun salutation if needed, so please don’t worry.

We will complete the mala in sets with a resting pose and short meditation in between.

You will then be taken through a cool down and a long nourishing savasana to finish.

You will need:

A small towel as it can get sweaty.

A bottle of water.

Don’t eat too close to the mala but make sure you have eaten plenty during the day to fuel you.
